Abstract

The intense human mobility resulting from globalization has given rise to the emergence of a type of narrative that has been called migration literature. Produced by migrant writers, these narratives revolve around territorial, cultural and identity transit and, although they are not autobiographical, they contain much of the authors' personal experiences. Bearing in mind that deterritorialization requires subsequent reterritorialization and that this can only occur through the interaction of the subject with the social environment, these narratives contain reports not only of the migrant's trajectory and his response to the shock between cultures, but also reports to the way he socializes and integrates with the host country. The purpose of this article is to undertake a brief reflection on the process of acculturation of immigrants in narratives by Jhumpa Lahiri, Chimamanda Adichie and NoViolet Bulawayo, from the perspective of Cultural Studies and the two-dimensional model of acculturation proposed by John Berry.
