Looking for a better life conditions, individuals have migrated and, in order to persevere in a new country, they need to have mastery of the host language to guarantee their permanence. On the other hand, we need to provide practical experience for students-teachers of the Portuguese and English Language course and these two contexts are found in an extension project entitled Portuguese for Foreigners. Therefore, with this work we seek to analyze an implementation of the medication package insert in teaching Portuguese as a host language. For this purpose, we present a didactic model of medication package insert textual genre and analyze a didactic sequence developed by student-teachers in this extension project with this textual genre. We defined the medication package insert textual genre, its production context, its thematic contents, types of speeches, sequences, textual and enunciative mechanisms, delimiting the teachable dimensions of this genre. Later, we analyzed the didactic transposition of these dimensions into a didactic sequence. With this study, we intend to disseminate the need for production and consultation of didactic models and the use of textual genres that are relevant to the context of the host language to guarantee the immigrant's permanence.
