Abstract

This article aims to analyze the novel Homegoing (2016), by the Ghanaian author Yaa Gyasi, which focuses on the African diaspora, in order to demonstrate how the author critically revisits the past and promotes a representation of the impact of captivty on the descendants of slaves. We will also approach the representation of the cultural identity of the diasporic individual. For this, we will use the theories of African Diaspora by Kevin Kenny (2013) and Paul Gilroy (2001), and also the concept of diasporic identity by Stuart Hall (2008).
