Abstract

This article proposes reflections and insights on young adult literature, aiming to rethink some teaching approaches that either distance or bring young people closer to books. The objective is to briefly discuss the paths taken by literature aimed at young audiences and to make observations about its pedagogical purposes, with an emphasis on the limited space for literary enjoyment itself. Attention will be drawn to the fact that certain educational processes drive young people away from literature, signaling potential mistakes in practices that often separate these readers from the literary universe. The aim is to reinforce the idea that adopted pedagogical procedures are responsible for success, and therefore, some will be discussed. Another crucial point to be addressed is the careful selection of books for adolescents, which should be done to ensure the efficiency of the literary literacy development process.
