Abstract

The study aims to understand the notion of language in the theoretical perspective of the Discourse Analysis of the French line, we are interested in presenting the displacements caused by the theory when considering that the role of the subject does not come isolated from the functioning of language. For this, we initially presented the concept of language and language, highlighting some notions that the theory started to follow, such as: language as symbolic work, interdiscourse and intradiscourse, material order of language, opacity and misunderstanding. Two ideas that are part of Michel Pêcheux's formulations are also worked on in the study, that language is a system and therefore has an organization, a structure, and that language is a social institution, therefore an event , since the meaning that results from this structure is not understood as a fixed unit, since it is historical and, therefore, it can slide into another. Therefore, language is not conceived only as a linguistic system, but as a significant system, capable of failures fixed by the action of man.
