Abstract

Traffic accidents are a major public health problem in Brazil. Based on this idea, this study aimed to use the Poisson dynamic model to adjust data on automobile accidents on Federal Highways (BRs) in the state of Paraíba from 2013 to 2018. In the methodology the tabulation and summarization of the data were performed with the aid of Excel software, the Time Series Analyzes obtained with the R software employing Markov Chain Monte Carlo (MCMC) simulations for parameter estimation and the Bayesian Analysis. OpenBUGS software using \textit{Deviance Information Criterion} (DIC) statistics for model selection. Through the approach employed in this work it was possible to verify that of the 9 federal highways that cross the State of Paraíba studied the ones that presented the highest number of traffic accidents were the BR-101, BR-104 and BR-230 highways. BR-230 showed the highest number of accidents when compared to other combined highways.
