Abstract

The increase in feminicide cases and gender violence, especially by using language to spread intolerance and hate speech, stablish gender-based hierarchies of power, and promote control through women objectification, makes it necessary to analyze how men use language as an instrument to foster misogyny and as an agent for the realization of his culturally sexist behavior, mainly when he becomes a defendant and, in the legal reasoning, makes use of linguistic resources, such as the conceptual metaphor, to build his argumentative repertoire in order to justify his acts, to minimize them or to transfer the guilt for the crime to the victim. Thus, based on Cognitive Linguistics, we realize that the female objectification through conceptual metaphors is a way of lowering and disqualifying the woman condition, by destroying her identity and giving her a state that legitimizes the crimes committed against her and attenuates the aggressor's fault, after all, to become an object is to become manipulable and disposable as such, without the human life proper dignity, in speeches that perpetrate misogyny and gender inequality.
