Abstract

Abstract: Intergenerationality, regarded as a powerful experience of exchange between generations, can be implemented in multiple ways and contribute to various generations, whether in terms of well-being, respect, mutual solidarity, or combating ageism, one of the focus areas of the Decade of Healthy Aging. The aim was to identify Brazilian intergenerational practices through the knowledge of state and municipal public policy managers and advisors on the rights of children and adolescents and the elderly. A descriptive study was carried out using an electronic form made available to managers and councillors from 26 states and the Federal District, linked to 14 government departments identified for the study. To collect the data, an electronic form was sent to all the managers identified, but only 60 responded. The descriptive and content analysis revealed an incipient number of mapped practices, especially in Health, Social Development and Sport and Leisure, which were recognized by managers. The results indicate a significant gap in actions on this topic, with 45% (27) of respondents reporting a lack of awareness and/or the absence of such activities. This highlights the potential for intersectoral initiatives for implementation on a national scale, as well as the need for mobilization by civil society to ensure these practices are guaranteed by the Statutes for Older Adults and Children and Adolescents.
