Lazarillo de Tormes, O Marginal e(m) sua poética do (des)lugar privado

Abstract

Our main aim is doing an analysis of Lazarillo de Tormes that shows this work’s journey into different fields of marginality, as in theoretical and historical aspects, in elements of the narrative (especially, character and space), in domains such as the social, political and religious. Hence we mobilize different methodologies, in an exercise tending to the historical-sociological reading, what leads to one of our hypotheses being that the displacement experienced by the work at various levels is symptomatic of the phenomenon of transition from a medieval society arranged in Christian kingdoms under seigniorial regime and principles to another structured among the rich and the poor, that is, according to the possession of wealth and money, religious relativism and individual self-affirmation. In this sense, Lazarillo illustrates how poverty, more than an economic-political-social issue, also becomes a matter of and for the intellect, what serves to explain the censure suffered until 1834. Finally, we will address how literature worked with the emergence, from a fictional point of view, of a civil society, its essence versus its appearance, its promises, its dangers, its failures.
