Abstract

The pharmacist nowadays has direct contact with the patient through pharmaceutical care seeking the promotion and guarantee of health. The aim of this work was to identify in the literature the importance of the preparation of the pharmacist during his training for the care of the deaf who use the Brazilian Sign Language as the first language for communication. Through a narrative review, we initially analyzed 82 materials grouped into three categories. Then, a filtering was performed using key words, and a critical reading about the relevance regarding the theme of this work, obtaining at the end 45 materials. Failure to communicate between deaf people and health professionals was observed, generating an enormous difficulty for the deaf to obtain care in the health system, including pharmaceutical care. After a critical analysis of all the contents collected and reported in this study, it was possible to verify the lack of preparation of the pharmacist in the care of the deaf due to a failure in their formation.
