Abstract

Researches involving the determination of the optimum plot size are important in experimental design and further characterization optimally allows to obtain more accurate results. However, this size can not be generalized because it must consider the characteristics and specificities of each species, crop, location, variables to be analyzed and methods to be used. For these reasons, the objective of this article was the use of methodologies like Maximum Bend Modified, Linear Regression Model with Plateau and Quadratic Regression Model with Plateau, for the species Acacia polyphylla DC, in three lots of different variability for the determination of optimal plot size for this species. Was considered blank tests and environmental conditions identical to all the basic experimental units (UEB), with the installation of the experiments according to the methodology proposed by Nomellini (2012) as the best for germination test of the species
concerned. Was verified for this species as the regression models (linear and quadratic) reduced size portion drastic and detrimental way, being suitable for the same the Maximum Bend Modified Method and reinforcing the need to use more than one method of determining the plot sizes.
